Georgian Peterborough Tour
For Sale
The Georgian period is a neglected part of Peterborough’s past – Stamford gets the glory with its fine surviving examples of 18th century architecture. Discover on this tour how the Georgian period had a big impact on Peterborough and the fascinating stories from this time.
The tour explores how the town was not quite the backwater we might expect and looks at some of our surviving and missing Georgian buildings. Hear also some of the stories behind our Georgian past, including how Peterborough ended up on a ‘Grand Tour’, attracted one of the country’s best-know artists, had a sedan chair service longer than anywhere else in the country and why a set of bells saved the local MPs life…
It also tells the story of the world’s first purpose-built prisoner of war camp!
Tickets £5 adults, £3 concessions. Tickets can be bought from the guide or the Peterborough Destination Centre. You can call the Destination Centre on (01733) 452336.
