Straight and True: The Longbow and the Hundred Years War
Don Chiswell
Archived Event
WEDS 6 MAR, 7PM
Historian Don Chiswell will take you back to a time when the Longbow was the English national weapon, and every household was required to own one by law!
Gaining prominence in the early 14th century, the weapon was a defining feature of English armies for nearly 200 years and played a pivotal role in key battles of the Hundred Years War with France. Discover a time when football was banned, hear how the English and French have always had their differences, and even handle a replica Longbow!
Light refreshments are included in the ticket price for this event and will be served prior to the lecture.
All workshops and lectures can be booked through Peterborough Museum on 01733 864663 or museum@vivacity-peterborough.com. Booking is essential for all workshops and strongly recommended for lectures.
