Heritage Workshops & Lectures; Spring 2013
The Wall Paintings of Longthorpe Tower
Dr Miriam Gill
Archived Event
WEDS 13 MAR, 7PM
Explore the extraordinary paintings which adorn Longthorpe Tower with Dr Miriam Gill, an expert in medieval wall paintings who lectures at both the Universities of Cambridge and Leicester.
Rarely found in a domestic setting, these beautiful works of art can also shine a light on the time in which they were created. Delve deeper into their medieval context to discover how theology, liturgy, literature and drama, and society influenced these paintings – and make them so much more than ‘medieval wallpaper’.
Light refreshments are included in the ticket price for this event and will be served prior to the lecture.
All workshops and lectures can be booked through Peterborough Museum on 01733 864663 or museum@vivacity-peterborough.com. Booking is essential for all workshops and strongly recommended for lectures.
