Calling all Young Explorers – bring your parents, carers or grandparents for a fun morning! See how a different museum object and a different gallery can be explored through story, rhythm, rhyme and craft. Young Explorers is great for developing early literacy skills, social skills, creativity and enquiry.
Join us every first Thursday of each month during school term time for a special Young Explorers toddler session, from 10am–11.30am and 1pm-2.30pm. £3 per participating child (2-5 years).
Thursday 7th May 2015
Help Mrs Mopple with her washing – give them a good wash in a Victorian washing dolly in our Changing Lives gallery and then hang them up to dry on the washing line. As they dry, enjoy listening to the story, ‘Mrs Mopple’s Washing Line’.
Then make a magnetic washing line game to take home.
Thursday 4th June 2015
Get up close to a real Barn Owl (taxidermy) and then enjoy the story ‘Owl Babies’ in our Wildlife Gallery. Then make an owl mask or crown before flying home!
Thursday 2nd July 2015
Handle real shells of different shape and sizes in our Changing Landscapes Gallery and enjoy the story ‘Sharing a Shell’. Then make a porthole sea picture to hang on your wall at home.
Additional toddler sessions can be arranged for pre-school playgroups. Booking is essential because places are restricted. To book, call Peterborough Museum on 01733 864 663 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Extend your stay with more interactive play in all of our galleries, with a lunchbox in Squire’s Coffee House or a further explore with the Chatter Trail.
