Peterborough Arts Festival
1 WEEKEND OF SPECTACULAR ENTERTAINMENT
OVER 20 EXCITING PERFORMANCES
The highlight of Peterborough’s cultural calendar, including amazing street theatre, large scale spectacular with fireworks and an incredible concert at the Broadway Theatre.
Following the spectacular success of last year and the jaw-dropping finale weekend in Peterborough City centre with the ‘Blue Men’ from Generik Vapuer, Peterborough Arts Festival is returning in 2014 and is set to be bigger and better than ever before.
Taking place in the vibrant heart of the city centre, this year’s Festival will run from Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th September with performances on Cathedral Square, in the Cathedral Precincts, up and down Bridge Street and at the Key Theatre and Broadway Theatre.
With something for everyone, the Peterborough Arts Festival really is a fun-filled adventure for the whole family, so come along, join in and enjoy the ride.
The two headline attractions are the world renowned street entertainers Transe Express with their giant dolls and flamboyant drummers taking over Cathedral Square with music, madness, pyrotechnics and fireworks on Saturday evening, and The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra conducted by Richard Balcome presenting From West End to Broadway at the Broadway Theatre on Sunday evening.
TRANSE EXPRESS performances are an astonishing combination of music, theatre, visual arts, acrobatics and large scale installations that have travelled the world.
In Peterborough, TRANSE EXPRESS creates two performances on Saturday evening — Les Tambours and Les Poupées Géantes. An opportunity to see magnificent, giant puppets, listen to their hypnotising melodies and to follow the march played by the extravagant drummers. It all ends with an outburst of pyrotechnics effects and fireworks.
FROM WEST END TO BROADWAY will be held at the Broadway Theatre on Sunday evening at 7.30pm with the prestigious and world-renowned Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO).
The Broadway Theatre is acoustically perfect for this concert and will be a great occasion to bring the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra back to the city. The programme consists of well-known West End and Broadway musical theatre works, specially arranged for the RPO and four West End professional singers. This will be a unique opportunity to see one of the greatest concert orchestras performing in Peterborough and will be a ticketed event.
In addition to the finale acts, the festival is packed full of street performers, circus acts, installations, extravagant visual displays, and strange goings-on so
