Becoming a member
- To borrow books and other library materials, and use library computers, you need to be a member.
- Membership is free to Peterborough residents.
- It’s also free if you live outside Peterborough, in Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire or Northamptonshire, and work or study in the Peterborough area.
- You can also get temporary library membership for limited borrowing privileges and using library computers.
Who can join the library?
You can join the library at any age if you are:
- a permanent resident in Peterborough or the adjacent counties of Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire
- working or studying in Peterborough
- visiting a library in Peterborough – non-residents can get a temporary library membership that allows limited borrowing privileges and computer use.
Identification
You need to bring two documents, one with your name and address, and one showing your signature:

- Driving licence
- Passport
- Bank or credit card
Name and address
- Driving licence
- Gas, electricity, water or phone bill
- Council Tax installment book
- Bank statement
- Medical card
How to join
There are two ways to join the library:
