Filming
Our Heritage sites offer unusual venues for photographic shoots or filming opportunities. We have provided facilities and filming opportunities for a number of television documentary programmes, and there is the potential for use for drama in a number of our period settings.
The Museum has been used for filming in local magazine programmes such as Inside Out for the BBC in the Eastern region, to nationally broadcast programmes. These have included Simon Schama’s History of Britain , Fossil Detectives and Bargain Hunt for the BBC, Britain AD , Big Monster Fish and Time Team for Channel 4, GMTV for ITV and Most Haunted for Living TV. We can also offer an unusual location for drama filming, as either a period building (Georgian house or Victorian hospital) or of course as a modern museum.
Flag Fen can be used for filming at any time of the year. In recent years it has been used for many television documentaries on prehistory, including Time Team, History of Ancient Britain and Britain BC. With its period buildings it is also suitable as a drama location. Fees depend on the season, whether the site needs to be shut to the public and whether it is a day or night shoot, general photography is allowed on site and fees for photo shoots are negotiable.
We also now have a medieval tower house in the shape of Longthorpe Tower, an ideal documentary background to discuss Medieval art, or period space for drama.
