Museum Society
The Museum Society was founded in 1871 as the Peterborough Natural History Society and Field Club.
A decade later it became the Natural History, Scientific and Archaeological Society before taking its modern title in 1947.
In 1968 the museum, housed in the Priestgate building, was presented to the City of Peterborough. The Museum Society still meets there on alternate Tuesdays during the winter for lectures covering its wide interests, including local history, archaeology, conservation, natural history, literature and fine arts. The Museum Society also has a number of publications available on the history of the area.
Talks have relocated to John Clare Theatre on Broadway.
