Longthorpe Tower

Longthorpe Tower is another of Peterborough’s Historic gems, recently voted amongst the 100 most important historic sites in the UK.

The Tower is a surviving part of a 14th century fortified Manor House, and contains the finest set of medieval wall paintings in a domestic setting anywhere in Western Europe, which give a rare insight into the medieval mind. The Tower includes the painted chamber with these stunning wall paintings and, new for 2012, a small hands-on exhibition on the story of the Tower, the wall paintings and life in a medieval manor house.

Longthorpe Tower is owned by English Heritage but is managed by Vivacity. It is open Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays 30 March-30 September, 10am – 5pm. Thursdays and Fridays in August, 10am-5pm. Pre-booked groups and school parties will be able to view the Tour at other times by prior arrangement.
