Unique Reference Creator, Forty Years On

As a Unique Reference Creator you will work on the Peterborough Development Corporation (PDC) archive. Unique reference codes assigned to each item in the collection will be matched from the catalogue description to the documents themselves to ensure we can locate and find items within the collection. Available: Monday from 2-4.30pm

Heritage Events Officer Internship

Vivacity Peterborough Culture & Leisure offers a Heritage Events Officer Internship within the Vivacity heritage service.

The successful candidate will assist with coordinating varied, engaging events and activities to include organising facilities, spaces, people and equipment, health and safety, providing marketing assistance and updating social media, collating feedback for evaluation, coordinating in house promotional displays and helping with Heritage Festival.

We welcome applications from candidates with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, an interest in a career in heritage/ museum services, organisational skills, ability to work on own initiative and effectively facilitate and work within a team, good computer skills, ability to work flexible hours to include evening and weekends to support the delivery of the events programme.

The internship is offered on a minimum six month placement, five days a week.

As Vivacity works across the culture, heritage, sport and leisure industries in Peterborough this internship offers the chance to experience the museum within a wider context. You will be able to shadow other parts of the organisation for agreed periods of time, as well as understand more about the changing cultural heritage sector and the workings of a cultural trust.

Please note this is an unpaid internship. Agreed travelling expenses will be reimbursed.

Exhibition steward

Help at the latest museum exhibition by ensuring the exhibition is not tampered with and is treated respectfully, tidying up if necessary, re-setting the interactive exhibits, as well as helping people to understand the subject better. The Space: Fact and Fiction exhibition will take place from Saturday 1st June to Monday 7th October 2013.

Volunteer Family Learning Facilitator

Help by assisting with workshops, activities, distributing trails, activity sacks and other materials as well as helping deliver events at both the Museum and Flag Fen during the school holidays or on bank holiday weekends.

Volunteer Steward, Museum

Are you confident interacting with the public? Do you have an interest in Heritage? We are looking for enthusiastic and confident volunteers to help us tell our story at the Museum. Our volunteers will help with a variety of tasks: talking about collections in different galleries, meeting and greeting visitors on Front of House, facility checks, replenishing stock in the shop and helping with room set ups. Available: Weekly, days flexible.

Front of House & Coffee Shop Assistant, Flag Fen

Do you enjoy meeting new people? Could you share your enthusiasm for our Heritage sites with visitors? If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you! Our Front of House & Coffee Shop Assistant will volunteer at Flag Fen Archaeology Park. The Park is home to a unique and ancient wooden monument. A kilometre long wooden causeway and platform that’s been perfectly preserved in the wetland for 3500 years. Available: Weekly, days flexible.

Coffee House assistant, Museum

Volunteers assist with a variety of tasks such as serving customers and clearing tables. Available: Saturday or Sunday morning/ afternoon (10am to 1.30pm or 1.30 to 5pm)
