Increase your physical activity to improve your health and well-being!

*New* Dementia Swimming  

Our Dementia Friendly swimming sessions allow you to continue doing something you love, or give you the chance to try something new, in a safe and supportive environment.

Sessions run at Regional Fitness and Swimming Centre every Monday and Thursday between 12-1pm and every Tuesday between 7.30-9.00pm for £2.50 per session. 

Exercise for Health Classes

We should all be achieving 150 minutes a week of moderate level physical activity to help improve our health and well-being!

Exercise for Diabetics

If you have diabetes you will be at a greater risk of heart and kidney disease. Being physically active has many benefits and this class is for you if you have type 1 or type 2 diabetes. Being active is one of the best ways for you to control your weight and blood sugar levels.

Making exercise a regular element of your diabetes management plan can help to reduce these risks by improving circulation, reducing stress levels and encouraging weight loss.

Every Monday at 10.45am - 11.45am at Hampton Leisure Centre for £3.00 per class.

Exercise for Cardiac and Respiratory conditions

Have you got a heart condition? Or do you avoid exercise as it makes you feel breathless?

If you are currently living with a cardiac or respiratory condition such as asthma or emphysema or any other illnesses, then you will find that specific breathing exercises and physical activity can help improve your quality of life.

Every Wednesday at 12.30pm-1.30pm at Hampton Leisure Centre for only £3.00 per class.

Exercise for Hypertension

High blood pressure has no symptoms, but if it’s not treated it can damage your kidneys, heart and brain. It’s a risk factor that you can reduce by getting more active.

Regular exercise can help to:

  • Strengthen your heart and cardiovascular system
  • Improve circulation
  • Increase energy levels

Exercise for Dementia and Alzheimers

There is growing evidence to suggest that physical exercise does not have to be strenuous or even require major commitment. As long as it is does regularly and in combination with mental activity and social interaction then it can be highly beneficial.

Aerobic exercise has been found to improve oxygen consumptionbenefits brain functionality and reduce brain loss in the elderly.

Every Thursday at 1.45pm-2.45pm at Hampton Leisure Centre for £3.00 per person.

Exercise for Increasing Mobility

If you have a disability or limited mobility and are leading a sedentary lifestyle then you may be at greater risk of being obese, or experiencing Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease.

Also, after physiotherapy for an injury, it is common to feel tired and less active than before. This could be down to a lack of confidence in what you should be doing or just a lack of motivation. These classes can offer guidance to help with exercises and to maintain your general health.

Every Tuesday at 10.45am-11.45am at Hampton Leisure Centre for £3.00 per person.

Exercise for Musculoskeletal Conditions

This class is for you if you suffer from arthritis, osteoporosis or general joint pain. Exercise can lead to significant health benefits:

  • An increase in synovial fluid production to keep joints healthy
  • An increase in bone density
  • Increased joint range
  • Stronger ligaments

Every Thursday at 11.00am-12.00pm at Hampton Leisure Centre for £3.00 per person.

Exercise for Obesity

If your body mass index (BMI) is higher than 25 then you'll have a greater risk of developing diabetes, high blood pressure or heart disease. Physical exercise helps to reduce body fat by building and preserving muscle mass.

By becoming more physically active you will decrease your risk of cardiovascular disease, enhance your immune system, reduce the risk of colon cancer and depression.

Classes are every Monday at 10.45am-11.45pm at Hampton Leisure Centre for £3.00 per person.

Exercise for Stress, Anxiety and Depression

During exercise our bodies produce endorphins, which act as major mood enchancers, particularly if you suffer from depression, anxiety or stress related illnesses.

In this class you will get the chance to meet and get active with others who share your condition.

Aerobic exercise has been proven to help reduce stress and increase blood flow to the brain.

Every Thursday at 1.45pm-2.45pm at Hampton Leisure Centre for £3.00 per person.

Stroke Rehabilitation Through Exercise

Physical activity helps to improve heart function and lipid profile by lowering total cholesterol. It can also lower blood pressure and heart rate.

Being active reduces the risk and severity of diabetes, increases insulin sensitivity, improves strength, balance and endurance and improves long-term brain health

If you're a stroke survivor these benefits can be invaluable.

Every Monday at 11.00-12.00 at Hampton Leisure Centre for £2.50 per session.

Cancer Rehabilitation

Physical activity is important for cancer patients at all stages of the cancer care pathway.

During cancer treatment it can help to improve or prevent the decline of physical function without increasing fatigue. After cancer treatment it can help to recover physical function.

Sessions run every Friday 11.30am- 12.30pm at Regional Fitness and Swimming Centre.
